This year, the annual Rolling Meadows National Night Out took place on August 2, 2022 at the Community Center parking lot (3705 Pheasant Drive). With approximately 4,000 people attending the event was certainly a success!

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event meant to improve Police-Community relations. The free event is held on the first Tuesday in August throughout the United States. NNO started in 1983 and has grown annually; Rolling Meadows first participated in NNO 2013 and has participated every year since. More information on NNO can be found at
This year, Rolling Meadows NNO highlights included:
• Full fireworks show (rescheduled from July 4)
• Helicopter candy drop
• Circus performers
• Face painters
• Touch-a-truck
• Food and promotional items

City Welcomes New Finance Director

Molly Talkington, a municipal finance professional with nearly 20 years of professional experience, began the next phase of her career on April 30th as Rolling Meadows’ new Finance Director.

Talkington began her career as a budget analyst in Naperville and spent the previous three years with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning as a Finance Principal.  She served multiple communities in between, including Glenview, Champaign, DeKalb, and East Dundee.

“Molly brings an impressive, multi-faceted background to the Finance Director position,” City Manager Rob Sabo explained.  “That experience will serve Rolling Meadows well as she helps build on our proven record of excellence to further enhance the City’s financial well-being.”

Talkington was drawn to Rolling Meadows in part by its warm “neighborhood feel” but, from a professional perspective, was intrigued by the chance to work for a stable community with a strong financial footing.

“I’m happy to be here and look forward to working with City Council and staff to build on Rolling Meadows’ already impressive record of achievement,” she explained.  “Everyone here really knows their stuff.  Rolling Meadows’s solid financial position and reputation for excellence are the tangible results of that.

“I’m also excited to explore ways for the Finance Department to get more involved in supporting the City’s economic development initiatives,” she added.

During 2021, local businesses have helped raise almost $10,000 for Rolling Meadows’ Community Events Foundation (CEF) by purchasing customizable street banners that now line Kirchoff Road and other high-traffic areas.

The annual street banner program offers local companies and organizations a high-profile opportunity to market themselves while providing financial support to the CEF.  Banners may be ordered to include a sponsor’s name and/or logo.

The Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit entity whose mission is to provide financial support to Rolling Meadows’ community events.  It relies solely on tax-deductible contributions and gifts from donors.  Learn more or make an online donation by visiting
